The following selection committee members have devoted their time and focus to this initiative, as the healthcare and rehabilitation community is close to their hearts. Each member is a pillar of their local community, with extensive volunteer and non-profit involvement.
After carefully reviewing every nomination, they were asked a series of questions based on a number of different categories. Based on those answers, our 10 finalists were chosen.
Colleen is passionate about helping others learn and grow. With over fifteen years of experience promoting inclusive environments in public, private, education and not for profit sector. As the Principal consultant at Divonify Incorporated, she provides equity diversity and inclusion (EDI) training and consulting to organizations and individuals. In her role as a Professor in the School of Business at Conestoga College, she thrives on challenging her students to discover their inner capabilities, enabling them to better understand the realities, and possibilities of their diversity. Colleen has completed certifications in leadership and inclusion, she is a graduate from Leadership Waterloo Region and is completing graduate studies in Educational Leadership and Policy at the University of Toronto. Colleen is engaged in her community and sits on several committees and collaborative projects, including the Mayor’s Task Force on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, the Kitchener Public Library, the Kitchener Waterloo Octoberfest Board. In 2020 Colleen established the James STEM scholarship award for Black graduate students pursing studies in the field of STEM. Colleen has received numerous awards and recognition including Top 25 DEI persons of the year for 2021, Top 100 Black Women to Watch in Canada in 2020
Danny made the transition to the financial industry in 2013. He graduated from the Civil Engineering field in 1992 and became a successful business owner for 20 years through the cultivation of building relationships with clientele. Danny keeps the same philosophy with his clients today: education, transparency, exceptional service and accountability with a client's needs and goals in mind. At Edward Jones, they value personal relationships based on a deep understanding of unique financial needs. Danny started by coaching and educating clients and partners with clients throughout their lives to achieve their goals through personalized financial strategies. Outside of the office Danny pursues many in my community including Rotary Club of Strathroy, Parkinson society of SW Ontario and VON of Strathroy. He also enjoys spending time with his wife and two grown daughters.
Gerald is currently CEO of Trudell Medical Limited, a diversified medical devices and services company with operations in respiratory care, minimal invasive surgery, medical device distribution and home oxygen. The company has operations in several countries and distributes its products into 110 countries globally. Gerald is Chair of the Board and Chair of the Audit Committee for EllisDon Corporation. EllisDon is one of Canada’s largest and most innovative construction companies. Gerald was formerly President and CEO of Cuddy International Corporation, aninternational poultry company. Cuddy operated a commercial turkey breeder operation as well as chicken and turkey processing plants doing business globally. Cuddyproduced all the chicken products for McDonald’s Canada as well as others. Gerald is an Ivey HBA graduate, Western University, London (ON) and began his career with PriceWaterhouseCoopers. After obtaining his CPA, CA, he left to pursue entrepreneurial ambitions acquiring a small company and built it into the largest provider of private label roadside assistance in Canada and brought nurse-based telehealth to Ontario. Gerald was also a founding partner and Chair of Technology Investment Management Corporation, which managed a venture capital fund. He has been actively involved in angel investing and is currently on the Board of several companies. Gerald also has a strong record of community involvement currently serving as a board member of The London Club, Huron University College and Ontario Global 100. He is Past Chair of the Board of Directors of the London Economic Development Corporation, formerly President of the Grand Theater Foundation as well as the Boys & Girls Club Foundation, and past member of the board of Operation Walk Canada.
Jennifer Bieman an award-winning health reporter for The London Free Press. Her work has appeared in the National Post, the Toronto Sun and other Postmedia papers. She has a masters of arts in journalism from Western University. Jennifer's coverage on London's opioid crisis earned her a Registered Nurses Association of Ontario award in 2019. She has also won several Ontario Newspaper Awards and was part of the Free Press team nominated for a National Newspaper Award in 2020. In 2017, she was the Canadian Journalism Foundation's Greg Clark Award winner.
Kristen is the Vice President of Public Affairs at the London Chamber of Commerce. Her duties include providing a leadership role in the policy work of the Chamber, as well as liaison to the Chamber’s Government Affairs Committee. Kristen is also responsible for advocacy related communications to the Chamber membership and working closely with community stakeholders on common policy issues. Kristen lives with her husband in London, Ontario and enjoys writing, fitness, and martial arts.
After working for a national accounting firm for 13 years, Lindsay joined Hoare Dalton in 2014 and happily accepted a partnership position in 2016. Since 2004, Lindsay has specialized in litigation support and business valuations. Lindsay enjoys assisting clients by calculating income losses, present value of future care costs and business interruption losses. Lindsay also takes pride in valuing businesses for matrimonial purposes, shareholder disputes or other shareholder planning matters. When not providing quality client service, Lindsay enjoys exploring the trails of London and surrounding areas with her husband, two sons and rambunctious Australian Shepherd.
Mojdeh Cox believes in the power of collective compassion, creativity and action to work towards solutions to complex social issues. Her dynamic 10+ years of experience working in co-visioning, co-designing and executing political and issue-based advocacy campaigns and her social policy work equipped her with the analysis and practices needed in community-based leadership roles designed to bring people together. When government, businesses and nonprofit organizations look to contribute to the dismantling of systemic barriers, Mojdeh brings forward expertise in labour relations, human rights, and equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging. For over a decade, Mojdeh has worked with leaders and community organizations, businesses and not-for-profit organizations on re-imagining their work through a heightened equity lens rooted in social justice. As Executive Director of Pillar Nonprofit Network, Mojdeh is dedicated to bringing people together to have challenging conversations around complex issues and radical accountability to effect personal and systems change
